Old Downtown Iowa City Mural (4/5)

1 of 5 murals completed for the Antique Car Museum of Iowa in Coralville, Iowa. These large-scale murals serve as backdrops for cars and immersive spaces within the museum. This depicts two old buildings in Iowa City today in an imagined street scene with candy-colored clouds. 2021.
Mucha Meets Iowa Mural
| Czech Village, IA
This 90-ft long, 22-ft tall mural reimagines Aphonse Mucha’s work in the Art Nouveau style by incorporating local Iowan wildlife and plants. The center female figure is taken from one of Mucha’s pieces and has been tweaked by adding local flowers and plants, namely wild roses, black-eyed susans, and coneflowers, in a flower crown. Oak leaves and bicycle wheels are also encircling the figure. In the remaining arches, other Iowan elements are depicted, such as the goldfinch, morels, and bluebells, chronicling the abundance and variety of life across Iowa. 2020.
NewBo Lofts Mural
| Cedar Rapids, IA
Five-story mural with signage painted inside NewBo Lofts which is visible from the outside. The highly saturated and abstracted background begins at the top with a sun. As it moves down, it depicts the Iowa countryside slowly turning into a cityscape near the bottom. A few iconic Cedar Rapids, Czech Village, and NewBo buildings are sprinkles into the vibrant cityscape. 2023.
Bumble Bee Bouquet Painting

Collaborative mural painting done with City View Community High School in Cedar Rapids for NewBo Market. A bumble bee serves as a unifying force in this collaborative painting, symbolizing interconnectedness within the community. As it carries a ribbon, it metaphorically ties together the diverse threads of community, echoing its role as a pollinator weaving through the wildflowers of Iowa.
Bunny Trail Mural

Brookings, SD
Three whimsically painted mural panels inspired by a poem - each panel reflects one third of the poem. The poem is about mischievous rabbits who are tumbling, running, and dancing through Downtown Brookings. People are encouraged to explore the downtown to find bunny tracks, bunny iconography, and more within the mural and in Downtown Brookings.
Colors are inspired by highly saturated Crayola Box colors. Each panel contains a primary color (blue, yellow, and red) as well as two secondary colors on the color wheel. 2024.

Between Waves and Prairie

Set of two crosswalk murals completed for Arnolds Park crossings in Okoboji, Iowa. Each was inspired by bright, graphic beach towels and depicts natural elements seen along the lake and in the Iowa prairie: sailboats, motorboats, blue gills, and Iowa-specific widlflowers. 2021.
Across Iowa (American Discovery Trail Mural)
| Cedar Rapids, IA
Resting behind the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art in Greene Square, this 80-ft long mural commemorates the American Discovery Trail, a non-motorized trail system that runs across the United States from west to east. It indicates where the trail runs along the Cedar Valley Nature Trail through Cedar Rapids. The trail itself is depicted with the yellow lines, describing how it moves across the United States with Iowa being in the center. Moving from left to right, the mural cycles from night to day to night again, describing a change in time as people move across the path. Local Iowan plants and wildlife are illustrated throughout the mural, such as mallard ducks, coneflowers, grasses, and goldfinches. 2019.
Live Music Mural

Mural created on the side of Elrays Live & Dive bar in Iowa City, Iowa. The mural reads “Live Music” in neon lettering with a backdrop of stars and music notes that glow in a starry galaxy. To the right, various neon signs invite the viewer inside Elray’s entrance. 2020.

A Town History Mural
| Webster City, IA
Set of 12 panels created in the upper story of a downtown building in Webster City, IA. Each 8”x8” mural depicts a prominent feature or figure important to the history of Webster City. Each panel has a gradient grid and part of the Boone River running through it, which connects each square to the next one. Mural was executed and installed with help of the local community. 2019.
